Ten years ago, on August 7, a huge mudslide occurred in Zhou Qu, Gansu. In the past decade, A new Zhou Qu emerged after strong post-disaster reconstruction measures were taken. Drainage canals and reinforced concrete dams were built, and a large number of civil engineering materials are used to reinforce the loose mountain slopes. Among these, pre-stressed anchor rod and steel bar welded mesh played an extremely important roles in the control of the landslide project.
First, the loose slope was reinforced with prestressed concrete reinforcement bars. High strength steel bars combined with concrete exerted sufficient stress on the surrounding soil layer and firmly consolidated together. Even encountering a strong impact, the steel bar also maintained long-term toughness to support the soil layer.
Then, the steel bar welded mesh divided the slope into several areas to support the soil layer separately. It made the slope more stable and reduced the possibility of large-scale soil collapse. Then installed insulation board to prevent the mesh corrosion due to rain or wet environment and extend its service life.
Finally, sprayed concrete to the entire slope. Every inch of soil was reinforced with concrete to further enhancing the stiffness of the slope. Installed a monitoring system on the slope to take control measures immediately in case of potential safety hazards. With such complete treatment measures, the landslide disaster has been well controlled and prevented.
Extreme natural disasters such as landslides and debris flow often occur in rainy seasons in southern China. In accident-prone areas, similar measures can be taken to control landslides to ensure national security and people safety.
